IrCOMM2k is a program that allows users to establish an infrared link using Linux-IrDA protocol implementation. After installation, a new COM port will be available on the system that can be opened with any program that requires a wired serial link to other devices. Microsoft's IrDA is still available when the virtual COM port is closed. If the IrCOMM2k Infrared Monitor (IrMon2k) is installed, a tray icon will display active links and allow users to choose the protocol switch.

When an application opens it, the IR symbol in the task bar will disappear and the infrared link will be established using the Linux-IrDA protocol implementation. Furthermore, if the IrCOMM2k Infrared Monitor (IrMon2k)is installed, a tray icon will display active links. The Infrared Monitor also allows you to choose if the protocol switch is done automatically or manually. Open the tray icon context menu to select the desired mode.
